RUSTENBURG – On the 30th November 2020, The North West SALGA Provincial Members Assembly took place at Rustenburg as part of preparation for the National Members Assembly.
Amongst others, the Assembly discussed general weaknesses as well as gaps in oversight structures.
Moses kotane Local Municipality is used as a Case study: the Municipality that has immersely improved with regard to the Audit outcome. MKLM Municipal manager Mr Mokopane Letsoalo shared lessons learnt on the Moses kotane Road towards this improvement. Firstly Municipal Manager Mr Mokopane Letsoalo thanked SALGA and Provincial Treasury for the opportunity requesting Moses Kotane to share their experience in dealing with the bondage of Disclaimers.
The Municipal Manager Mr Letsoalo further stated that, conducting an Interim Audit of AFS helped Moses Kotane Local Municipality to clear a lot of their Audit findings. The committed management and the Leadership of Moses Kotane Local Municipality showed continous commitment, Dedication towards improving as well as changing the Audit outcome of their Municipality.
The Municipal Manager also indicated that Moses Kotane Local Municipality is currently conducting phase 2 of the investigation of UIFW( UNAUTHORISED, IRREGULAR, FRUITLESS & WASTEFUL EXPENDITURE) and some of identified gaps are already written off and avoided from re-occurring. Though it is a hectic and slow process, however the municipality’s Leadership is committed to clear the previous UIFW Register. With all Hands on the Deck Moses Kotane Local Municipality will get an Improved Audit outcome said Municipal Manager Mr Mokopane Letsoalo.
