Moses Kotane Local Municipality participates on the Ministerial visit in addressing Water challenges within the North west province
The North West Province like several other provinces in the country has been experiencing a lot of inconsistent supply of clean running of water as well as water-cuts following the unprecedented poor rainfall and heatwave.
Shortage of water continues affecting a lot of people, communities, stakeholders negatively in various ways, and this warrants immediate intervention to address this water outcry.
Therefore, the Minister of Water and Sanitation (DWS) Hon. Senzo Mchunu, accompanied by Deputy Ministers Hon. David Mahlobo and Hon. Dikeledi Magadzi met with various stakeholders during a 3-day Ministerial working session to engage as well as assess the status of water and sanitation in the whole North West province.
The 3-day working session started yesterday on the 01st amd will be wrapped up tomorrow on the 03rd February 2022 will afford key stakeholders the opportunity to exchange views on the current water status of the province.
Minister of Water and Sanitation (DWS) Hon. Senzo Mchunu, stating the purpose mentioned that this is aimed at assessing the status of water and sanitation in the North west province so as remedial actions can be taken.
Minister further said, these water interruptions are a serious concern and as Government we need to come up with sustainable solutions so that people can enjoy their basic rights of accessing water.
In conclusion let us partner with other Public, private, Mining houses so as collectively we can address water shortages challenges. The department is also looking into reviewing water boards that are ineffective so as to address challenges of water experienced.
Twelve Mayors made presentations on the status quo of Water & sanitation in their respective municipalities.
Moses Kotane Local Municipality delegation was led by Mayor Cllr Nketu Nkotswe accompanied by Municipal Manager Mr Mokopane Letsoalo and Director of Infrastructure & Technical services Mr Boikanyo Maseloane.
